No shelter:

  • Build a fire: it will provide you with heat and will attract people around.
  • Set rocks around the fire: this will absorb and reflect heat.
  • Try to build a shelter.

If you are in a automobile

  • Stay in your automobile.
  • Open your windows a little so carbon dioxide doesn't build up.
  • Turn on your dome light: this will draw attention to your car.
  • Exercise your arms and legs (toes and fingers) from time to time: this will help with circulation of the blood.

If you are in a building

  • Stay inside.
  • Turn on or start up a fire, space heater or wood stove.
  • Make sure there is proper ventilation.
  • Wear layers of loose, warm clothing.

If the building has no heat

  • Cover windows at night.
  • Close off unused rooms.
  • Shove rags or other towels under doors to keep cold air out.
